WHEEL BALANCE
Is your vehicle vibrating at certain speed between 50 and 70 mph? If so, chances are your wheel is out of balance. One section of your tire is heavier than the other because it’s endured more exposure to the friction and heat of the road. Come in for prompt, professional service from your local Attwood & Son mechanics. We often find that our customers are very satisfied with the difference that such a simple and inexpensive procedure makes.
Look for these signs, and if you find either one, come see us: Scalloped, erratic wear pattern on tires or vibration in steering wheel, seat, or floorboard at certain speeds.
Often confused with wheel alignment, a properly balanced wheel is a beautiful, perfectly tuned wheel-tire combination. Wheel balancing, also known as tire balancing, is when the weight of the combined tire and wheel assembly are equalized so that it spins smoothly and without interruption at high speeds. Balancing involves putting the wheel/tire assembly on a balancer, which centers the wheel and spins it to determine where the weights should go. We place measured lead weights on the opposite side of the “heavy spot” which is the noticeable tread wear on your unbalanced tire.
Tire wear is inevitable and as wear occurs, the balance will slowly and dynamically change over time. Weight imbalance is normal and just needs to be corrected as soon as possible to prevent any further issues over time. Correcting wheel imbalance early on saves you from having to spend money on new tires prematurely. Listen, we know good tires aren’t cheap and the mechanics at G&G Auto Repair are always looking for ways to save you some cash. Wheel balancing is a simple service that extends the life of your tires and helps you get every mile out of them before it’s time to replace them.
BRAKE SERVICE & REPAIR
Waiting to service and or repair brake pads can cause further damage and safety concerns. It’s cheaper and faster to replace brake pads before further damage occurs. Disc brakes usually include a part called a wear indicator. A wear indicator is a small piece of metal attached to the brake pad that contacts the brake rotor when the pad material has been worn down to a certain level. When the wear indicator grinds against the rotor, it makes a squealing noise as you apply the brakes. This noise is a signal which tells you it’s time to have your brakes examined.
If you’re not sure if it’s time for your car or truck brakes to be serviced or replaced, come on by for a quick brake inspection.
The brake system is actually composed of two kinds of systems: hydraulics and friction materials. Our expert mechanics will inspect every part of your braking system
