CHECK ENGINE DIAGNOSTICS

Free Check Engine Light Scans | ASE Certified | Accurate Diagnostics. Today's cars are much more complicated and difficult to diagnose. With technological advances has come increasingly complicated systems.

With technically-advanced control systems taking the place of simple engine components, common maintenance services such as tune ups are much more infrequent. Most vehicles require fewer tune ups and usually require replacing fewer components. Regular services (such as spark plug and filter replacements) are still required, as well as a computerized analysis of your vehicles control computer. Our factory-trained technicians are here to provide these basic services. The check engine light cannot take the place of an experienced mechanic, but it is helpful in pinpointing where auto repairs might be needed so we can save you time and money and get you back out on the road.

TRANSMISSION SERVICE

Your transmission is a complex system of gears that transmit mechanical power to your engine, ultimately determining the rate of speed you travel. The transmission converts this power from the engine so that it can supply high torque at low speeds in addition to selecting which gears are appropriate based on the driving conditions. This is especially true with automatic transmissions—by far the most popular transmissions found in the U.S. Rather than using a clutch to engage the transmission, automatic transmissions use a torque converter (between the engine and transmission) to control the number of gears when driving. Supplying the power to regulate gear action is a demanding task, which is why it’s important for you to contact us, your transmission service specialists.
Essential maintenance tasks we complete: Drain transmission and torque converter | Refill Automatic Transmission Fluids (ATF) with new fluid

SHOCKS & STRUTS

If your vehicle has any of these performance issues then you may need to replace your shocks and struts:
vehicle leaning and swaying while changing lanes, poor steering response or noisy steering, unstable at high speeds, excessive bouncing when driving. Our team at Attwood & Son can complete a thorough inspection to insure your vehicle remains safe to drive.

AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING

Prepare for cold winters and hot summers with well-maintained air conditioning and heating systems. Without regular maintenance your car or truck’s air conditioner loses about 5% of its efficiency every year. A very important part of the AC system is the compressor that is used to compress and expand the refrigerant to make it cold. A compressor an fail due to a leak in the housing, or it can fail internally. Compressors will wear out faster if refrigerant and oil levels are low, so the best thing is to have the A/C serviced every few years and catch any potential problems before they get expensive. An A/C service doesn’t cost much, and you can be more comfortable in your vehicle and potentially save a costly compressor repair.
A/C & Heater Service: Refrigerant cross-contamination | Unresponsive pressure switches | Damaged compressors | Broken belts | Leaks in the AC system | Clogged or leaking condensers | Improper refrigerant levels | Clutch problems | Moisture and debris-ridden filters | AC control head malfunctions.
New A/C Service Technology, R1234YF: 1234YF is a new type of hydrofluoro-olefin refrigerant aka freon, that is better for the environment with a lower Global Warming Potential. Attwood & Son Automotive technicians are properly trained to service A/C systems with R1234YF and the only auto repair shop in Southern California equipped to offer this new A/C service technology.

CV AXLE JOINTS & DRIVE SHAFT REPAIR

The axle on your vehicle is the structural component that connects two wheels together. It’s a load-bearing assembly that acts like a central shaft, maintaining the position of the wheels relative to each other and to the vehicle body. The construction of your axle is designed according to what your vehicle is built for. Trucks and off-road vehicles are equipped with axles that keep the wheel positions steady under heavy stress (ideal for supporting heavy loads). Conventional axles are constructed for the needs of the general consumer. No matter what you drive, remember that the axle must bear the weight of your vehicle (plus any cargo) and the acceleration forces between you and the ground.
CV Axle Joint Services: CV joint repairs | CV shaft repairs | Transmissions | Axle shaft repairs | Axle shaft assembly replacements CV boot installations and repairs.

ELECTRICAL REPAIR

Our Electrical Services include:Battery checks | Battery replacements | Alternators | Wiring

SUSPENSION & STEERING SYSTEMS

The primary function of your car or truck suspension and steering systems is to provide a controlled and comfortable ride. It does this by allowing the wheels to move independently of the car. Any play or uncontrolled motion in these systems results in a deterioration of handling. Vehicle alignment is closely tied to the condition of the suspension and steering systems.

The mechanics at Attwood & Son Automotive prefer providing timely and consistent maintenance for your vehicle because it saves customers from having to pay expensive repair bills.
